Optimizing a Trellis Spacing for Texas Summer Solstice

What is the best spacing to maximize shade from your trellis?

I modeled different trellis spacing to see which would get me the most bang for buck of shade for my lumber. This is fine tuned to my geolocated site, set for the summer solstice. The best spacing for my site was 9 inches apart, which gets about 95% of my west facing wall shaded, spared from the scorching summer heat of Texas.

The other study is set at 1 ft apart-which still let lots of sun through, to heat up my shop window and west wall.

I also tested 8-1/2″ spacing but this ends up with too much material and really lots of overlap on the shadow (meaning more building material for less shadow = money wasted)

This shadow study is meant for the general area where we hope to build this home here in Texas. Results will depend on where the home is located and how it is oriented. This 3D image is set for summer solstice at 4pm

My goal at Alt-Ark is to Make Homes More Permaculture, to help you build that permaculture house on the homestead.
